The Mod Squad plot

Pete Cochran is evicted by his wealthy parents and then arrested for stealing a car, Linc Hayes is arrested during the Watts riots, and Julie Barnes is arrested for vagrancy after running away from her self-prostitute mother. The three avoid going to jail by accepting a proposal from Police Chief Adam Greer: they will work as a trio as undercover investigators for the police. He sees in the three smooth, young people the opportunity to infiltrate places and subcultures where he cannot do this himself.
