For a moment 'South Park' seemed like the subversive satire of yesteryear with biting episodes like 'Mexican Joker', 'Band in China' and 'Shots!!!'. But the gimmick surrounding Tegridy Farms just kept being milked out and a certain predictability crept into the season. I wasn't as opposed to this ongoing storyline as other forum users, but for me, too, 'Season Finale' came as a relief because it seemed finally done with legalized weed. Although I have to say that individual episodes like 'Board Girls' and 'Turd Burgers' are also half-hearted attempts to say something useful about social developments. From a comedic point of view, 'Basic Cable' had the funniest jokes and nice that they stopped making references to this episode throughout the season. But in spite of the self-conscious meta-criticism, it all leads nowhere. In 'Christmas Snow' again the message about how business influences society with false values such as integrity and authenticity. Once I was done with the series because they made up predictable variations of Cartman setting up a Nazi cult against someone or something. Now the self-reference game seems to have become an end in itself and the series adds little to anything else.
