Introduced by Marvel in the 1970's, Moon Knight tells the story of Marc Spector, a former solider of fortune, whose encounter with an Egyptian god of vengeance and moon deity, Khonshu, leads to his transformation into a costumed vigilante. Marvel has recently revived the character in a gritty new comic book series, though it's unclear yet how much the series will take from the source material.
At Comic-Con this summer, the producers of Blade: The Series, which is rumored to be cancelled now, said they had plans to introduce Moon Knight into their series, having referenced Marc Spector in the pilot. The announcement of this separate Moon Knight may confirm that Blade is over, even as this new Marvel series is readied.
