Singapore, July 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Desmond Lee, Chairman of the People's Action Party (PAP) and Minister for Education of Singapore.

Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore 35 years ago, the relationship between the two countries has always kept pace with the times and maintained stability and continuity. Under the political guidance and personal promotion of President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Singapore, China-Singapore relations have been upgraded to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, which is an accurate positioning of the high-level friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. Standing at a new historical starting point, China is willing to work with Singapore to follow the new important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, work to carry on China-Singapore friendship, help each other succeed, demonstrate the audacity to pioneer, and inject new impetus into the continued and positive development of bilateral relations and the process of regional integration.

Liu noted, exchanges between the ruling parties are an important part of relations between China and Singapore. The relations between the two Parties have been deepened under the framework of an annual delegation exchange mechanism, providing strong impetus for promoting healthy and stable development of relations between the two countries. Under the current situation, both the CPC and the PAP are facing new governance challenges and shouldering new historical missions. The CPC is willing to, together with the PAP, strengthen political dialogue and concept exchanges on issues of party building, state governance and global governance, deepen mutual understanding of respective development strategies and positions on international and regional issues, intensify exchanges at all levels, enhance mutual understanding, and gather more consensus and wisdom of political parties to maintain regional stability and development. Liu also introduced the CPC's efforts in strengthening Party conduct and maintaining close ties with the masses.

Desmond Lee congratulated the CPC on having more than 100 million members. He said that in recent years, the ruling parties, governments and local governments of Singapore and China have maintained close exchanges at all levels, promoting new progress in bilateral cooperation in various fields. The world today is undergoing both transformation and upheaval. The PAP hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, learn experience in party building and state governance from the CPC, improve its own governing capacity, better make long-term development plan for Singapore, respond to the expectations of the people, especially the expectations of the youth, and meet common challenges together.

Prior to the meeting, Liu met with Kishore Mahbubani, a well-known Singaporean scholar. The two sides had in-depth discussions on international and regional issues.

Cao Zhongming, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, attended the abovementioned activities.
