Perikli Bijoloġiċi
Il-Bord dwar Perikoli Bijoloġiċi (BIOHAZ) jipprovdi parir xjentifiku dwar il-perikli bijoloġiċi fir-rigward tas-sikurezza tal-ikel u l-mard li jinġarr mill-ikel. Dan ikopri mard tal-annimali trażmissibbli għall-bnedmin; enċefalopatiji sponġiformi trażmissibbli; mikrobijoloġija tal-ikel; iġjene tal-ikel u kwistjonijiet ta’ mmaniġġar tal-iskart assoċjati.
Il-Membri tal-Bord tal-BIOHAZ huma xjenzati minn madwar l-Ewropa b’għarfien espert f’dawn li ġejjin:
- Epidemjoloġija taż-żoonożi li jinġarru mill-ikel (Salmonella, Campylobacter, eċċ)
- Reżistenza għall-antimikrobiċi
- Ipproċessar ta’ prodotti sekondarji tal-annimali
- Viruses li jinġarru mill-ikel
- Spezzjoni tal-laħam fl-ispeċijiet kollha li jipproduċu l-ikel
- L-iġjene tal-ikel u l-mikrobijoloġija
- Kriterji mikrobijoloġiċi
- Riskji bijoloġiċi assoċjati ma’ prodotti komposti, u ma’ prodotti friski;
- Dekontaminazzjoni tal-karkassi tal-laħam (trattamenti antimikrobiċi)
- Valutazzjoni kwantitattiva tar-riskju mikrobijoloġiku
- TSEs (epidemjoloġija, patoloġija, dijanjostika, valutazzjoni ta’ esponiment).

As of May 2025, the BSE-TSE network has been discontinued and has now become the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies subgroup of the Animal Health Network. Information on this subgroup is available at this link.

What are EFSA's networks?
EFSA’s networks consist of nationally appointed EU Member State organisations with expertise in the fields covered by the network. Representatives of the Commission and of other organisations (including those from outside the EU) with specific expertise may also be invited to participate in the work of EFSA Networks.
Networks are chaired by EFSA and supported by relevant EFSA units. Their aim is to facilitate scientific cooperation in the field of EFSA’s mission by:
- coordinating activities,
- exchanging information,
- developing and implementing joint projects,
- and exchanging expertise and best practices.
