Background
On 7 July 2025, EFSA organised as ad hoc stakeholder meeting.
The meeting was organised as a follow up to the webinar held in March 2025 to discuss the data requirements and mandate on conventionally smoked foods.
During the meeting, the following main points were discussed.
- EFSA confirmed that the definition and validation of the analytical methods for some of the substances in the priority list of EFSA’s call for data (link), falls into the remit of the EURL (in this case probably the EURL for Processing Contaminants at DTU in Copenhagen).
- With regard to the data submission of existing contaminant occurrence data on smoked foods, EFSA mentioned that the list of contaminants of interest for the assessment is being finalised, nevertheless this should not affect the data submission.
- On the possibility of providing instructions on pending data submission. EFSA provided availability to provide further information on this matter during the months of July and August, in view of the closure of the call of data (31st August). Expression of interest should be sent to data.collection [at] efsa.europa.eu.
