Hyundai Canada reports calendar year 2023 and December sales

• Hyundai Canada reports total sales of 8,905 units in December, bringing the annual total retail sales volume to 115,668 units for 2023, an increase of 2.8 per cent.
• Total IONIQ 6 deliveries surpassed 2,500 units since its market launch in April of 2023, punctuated by a banner month in December with 600 deliveries.
Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. had its best December on record, helping to close the year on a high note despite supply chain issues and inventory challenges throughout the year. Hyundai Canada reported total December sales of 8,905 units, a year-over-year increase of 15.5 per cent. The TUCSON (2,079 units), KONA (1,958 units), and ELANTRA (1,343 units) were December's three best-selling Hyundai models, respectively. December was a strong month for the 2023 WCOTY winner IONIQ 6 (600 units), trailing only the Tucson HEV in electrified sales in December.
Hyundai's electrified fleet continued to show positive momentum in December with 2,718 units sold, representing over 30 per cent of the total December sales volume. This includes pure electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The IONIQ 6 led in pure electrified sales (600 units), followed by the KONA ELECTRIC (473 units). The hybrid variants of SANTA FE and the AJAC award-winning TUCSON both posted year-over-year gains.
2023 Results
For the year, Hyundai sold 115,668 units, a 2.8 per cent increase compared to 2022. The top three selling units in 2023 were the TUCSON (26,109 units), KONA (22,443 units), and ELANTRA (20,459 units). The TUCSON HEV led in electrified sales (10,118 units), followed by the KONA ELECTRIC (5,963 units), and IONIQ 5 (5,097 units). The IONIQ 6 had a strong arrival to the Canadian market with 2,873 deliveries since launching in April.
