Ichigo Kurosaki, un estudiante de 15 años, tiene la capacidad de ver fantasmas desde su infancia. Un día, se le aparece la shinigami Rukia mientras caza a un Hollow, un espíritu maligno. Ella resulta gravemente herida durante el combate y se ve obligada a transferir sus poderes a Ichigo. Hasta que Rukia recupere sus poderes, Ichigo debe encargarse del trabajo diario de un Shinigami. Como Ichigo está desesperado por salvar a Rukia, es entrenado por Kisuke Urahara para convertirse en un verdadero Shinigami. Así que, junto con sus amigos y compañeros de clase Sado Yasutora, Orihime Inoue y Uryuu Ishida (un Quincy), se dirige hacia la Soul Society, donde deberán enfrentarse a poderosos shinigamis. As Ichigo desperately wants to save Rukia, he learns to become a real Shinigami from Kisuke Urahara. So, together with his friends and classmates Yasutora Sado, Orihime Inoue and Uryuu Ishida (a Quincy), he makes his way to the Soul Society, where they are faced with powerful Shinigamis. Bit by bit, a plot is uncovered that could have serious consequences for the real world and for the Soul Society …

Bis Rukia ihre Kräfte zurückerlangt hat, muss Ichigo nun die tägliche Arbeit eines Shinigami verrichten. So lernt Ichigo mehr und mehr dazu, und die beiden werden Freunde.

Eines Tages wird Rukia von ihrem Stiefbruder Byakuya Kuchiki und ihrem besten Freund Renji Abarai wieder in die Soul Society geschleppt (ein Ort, an dem alle Seelen ruhen, darunter auch Shinigamis) und auf Grund ihres schweren Vergehens, dem Übertragen ihrer Shinigami-Kräfte an einen Menschen, zum Tode verurteilt. Da Ichigo Rukia unbedingt retten will, wird er von Kisuke Urahara zu einem richtigen Shinigami ausgebildet. So macht er sich zusammen mit seinen Freunden und Schulkameraden Yasutora Sado, Orihime Inoue und Uryuu Ishida (einem Quincy) auf den Weg in die Soul Society, wo sie sich mit mächtigen Shinigamis auseinandersetzen müssen. Dabei wird Stück für Stück ein großes Komplott aufgedeckt, das schwerwiegende Folgen für die reale Welt und die Soul Society haben könnte …

Un jour, Rukia est ramenée à la Soul Society (un lieu où toutes les âmes reposent, y compris les shinigamis) par son demi-frère Byakuya Kuchiki, son meilleur ami Renji Abarai, et condamnée à mort en raison de son grave délit (transfert de ses pouvoirs de shinigami à un humain). Comme Ichigo veut absolument sauver Rukia, il est entraîné par Kisuke Urahara pour devenir un vrai Shinigami. Ainsi, avec ses amis et camarades de classe Sado Yasutora, Orihime Inoue et Uryuu Ishida (un Quincy), il part pour la Soul Society, où ils doivent affronter de puissants shinigamis. Au fur et à mesure, une importante intrigue est découverte qui pourrait avoir de graves conséquences pour le monde réel et la Soul Society…

Volendo salvare Rukia a tutti i costi, Ichigo viene addestrato da Kisuke Urahara a diventare uno Shinigami vero. Così, insieme a suoi amici e compagni di classe, Sado Yasutora, Orihime Inoue e Uryuu Ishida (un Quincy), si mette in cammino verso la Soul Society, dove dovranno affrontare i potenti Shinigami. Allo stesso tempo rivelano pezzo per pezzo un grande complotto che potrebbe avere gravi conseguenze sia per il mondo reale che per la Soul Society …
