In 2007, the MMORPG game “The World” took the world by storm and is now played by over 20 million people. While Mai Minase and her steady boyfriend Kasumi Tomonari are also trying it out, they hear a mysterious noise. After collapsing in the real world, they are taken to the hospital. Mai manages to regain consciousness, but her friend remains in a coma. Together with the creator of the virtual world, she then tries to find out the secret of these incidents and save her friend and the other victims.

Im Jahr 2007 hat das MMORPG Spiel »The World« die Welt im Sturm erobert und wird inzwischen von über 20 Millionen Personen gespielt. Während Mai Minase und ihr fester Freund Kasumi Tomonari es auch einmal ausprobieren, hören sie ein mysteriöses Geräusch und werden, nachdem sie in der echten Welt kollabiert sind, ins Krankenhaus gebracht. Mai schafft es wieder zu sich zu kommen, doch ihr Freund verbleibt im Koma. Zusammen mit dem Erschaffer der virtuellen Welt versucht sie daraufhin hinter das Geheimnis dieser Vorfälle zu kommen und ihren Freund sowie die anderen Opfer zu retten.
