Weekend Chinese Course
This course is designed for learners interested in Chinese, especially beginners and those at an elementary level. Classes are conducted in a group format with a minimum of 5 students required to start. If fewer than 5 students enroll, the course will be canceled. Students may choose to receive a refund, postpone to the next session, or switch to a different course type.
Course Structure
- Beginner Course
This introductory course primarily uses topic-based teaching, covering essential language skills such as Pinyin, self-introduction, numbers, colors, asking prices, and telling time. In addition to language learning, the course includes cultural content, introducing contemporary Chinese culture, daily life in China, and traditional Chinese culture. Cultural experience activities such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, and tea art will also be offered. After completing 10 sessions, students will have a foundational understanding of the Chinese language, Chinese history, and contemporary Chinese society, preparing them for more systematic Chinese study.
- Elementary Course
The elementary course is designed for learners with some prior knowledge of Chinese or those who have completed the beginner course. Using a structured textbook, students will systematically learn Chinese grammar, character recognition and writing, and engage in extensive conversational practice. Upon completing the course, students will be able to pass the HSK Level 1 exam, and outstanding students may even pass the HSK Level 2 exam.

- Course Duration: 10 weeks per term, 2 hours per week
- Class Time: Saturdays, 13:00 – 15:00
- Location: UCC main campus
- Course Fee: €150 (UCC staff or students receive a €50 discount; previous students receive a €20 discount)

- September 13, 2025 – November 15, 2025 (10 weeks)
Registration period: August 10, 2025 – September 10, 2025 - November 29, 2025 – January 14, 2026 (10 weeks, 2-week Christmas break)
Registration period: November 1, 2025 – November 26, 2025 - January 28, 2026 – April 2, 2026 (10 weeks)
Registration period: January 1, 2026 – March 30, 2026
