If you're here looking for the best Le Labo scents, then you already know that the brand is so much more than its iconic Santal 33. Sure, we all love a sandalwood moment, but there is so much more the brand has to offer — from vetivers and musks to black tea, grapefruit, orange blossom, and everything in between.
If you are new to Le Labo, allow me to give you a quick intro. Le Labo was founded in 2006 in New York by two friends who wanted to revolutionize the perfume industry, adding a little edge to the classic fragrances. If you want something by the book, go to Chanel. If you want something with a twist, come to Le Labo. Since opening its first lab at 233 Elizabeth Street in Nolita, Le Labo has expanded its wings all over the world, opening flagship stores across continents and landing coveted spots in retailers like Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.
But what makes Le Labo perfumes so sought-after? Well, for starters, it’s their formula. All of the scents are EPD (i.e., Eau de parfums), meaning they will be more intense and last longer than your regular, run-of-the-mill perfumes. The Le Labo offering also includes a travel-friendly liquid balm for alcohol-free application.
Le Labo fragrances also come in really beautiful packaging, which is customized for every customer on location to show not only their name but also the location where the scent was purchased. The only catch? They come with a hefty price tag, so you might hesitate a little before hitting “add to cart.” But let us assure you: Le Labo has to be on the list if you are on the quest to find your signature scent.
To make that journey easier for you, I tested all of the brand’s core fragrances by going through an entire discovery set – which retails for $107 – to test out 17 of the fine fragrances Le Labo scents from the brand’s classic collection (only missing Ambrette 9 and excluding city exclusive scents like Tokyo’s Gaiac 10). As for methodology, I tested every fragrance individually with a spritz on both wrists and each side of my neck and left it for at least 24 hours before showering to test the next one.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the 10 best Le Labo scents and what makes them so special. (Spoiler alert: I might have found my favorite fragrance.)
