Midfielder keen to play in UEFA Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be unsuccessful in their bid to sign Lille's Jean Makoun, according to reports emanating from France. Want-away midfielder Makoun is rumoured to be attracting interest from Spurs, Arsenal and also Serie A side Juventus. Tottenham have reportedly made an offer for the Cameroon international, but it is believed that he is keen to join a club that will play UEFA Champions League football next season. Juventus are expected to make a formal approach in the coming days, while it is suggested that Makoun is low on the list of The Gunners' targets as they look for a replacement for Mathieu Flamini. Ligue 1 champions Lyon are also thought to be interested in the 25-year-old; however the club has yet to launch a bid.
