About the California Roster
The California Roster serves as the state's comprehensive directory of public officials, connecting citizens to their democracy from the federal level down to local government. Pursuant to California Government Code Sections 12240 -12241 , this resource catalogs everyone from U.S. Senators and Representatives to state constitutional officers, legislative members, judges, county officials, incorporated city and town officials across California's incorporated communities. Beyond current officeholders, the roster preserves the state's political history and documenting official emblems, government agencies, and even unincorporated areas that make up California's diverse landscape.
Since 2005, the California Secretary of State has maintained the Cal Roster exclusively online, ensuring free public access.
