Letter of Permission (LoP)

If you are a University of Toronto undergraduate student planning to take a course at another institution through a Letter of Permission (LoP), please visit the Faculty of Arts and Science's Letters of Permission page for more information on how to apply and how to have courses pre-assessed for transferability back to the University of Toronto.

Outbound Exchange

If you are a student going on an Outbound Exchange, please send your completed pre-departure assessment form/table directly to psy.transfercredit@utoronto.ca. Kindly make sure all required information is provided or this could significantly delay your assessment. Please see the additional information below for more details.

Additional Information

Before asking for a transfer credit assessment, please check Transfer Explorer to see if your desired course(s) have been previously assessed.

Transfer credit assessments can take up some time, so we strongly recommend submitting your request well in advance, whether it is through SLATE (for Letters of Permission or On-Admission) or through our office (for Outbound Exchange). Last-minute submissions may not be processed in time. To help us process your request efficiently, please provide complete and accurate information, including all relevant documentation in English. Missing details can significantly delay the process for you, admininstrative staff, and transfer credit assessors.

For all transfer credit assessments, kindly provide as much detail as possible about each course you would like to have pre-assessed.  Each course outline you submit must be in English and should include the following information:

  • Course code and title
  • Instructor’s name and contact information
  • Delivery method (e.g., online, in-person), including a link to the student portal
  • Course duration
  • Grading scheme
  • Number and type of assignments (e.g., essays, tests, exams)
  • Weekly course schedule of topics taught
  • Reading list

Providing complete and accurate information helps ensure a smoother and faster assessment process.

If you have additional questions, feel free to email us at psy.transfercredit@utoronto.ca. Please note that due to a high volume of inquiries, our response may be delayed.
