The Official biggest songs of 2025 so far
The most-streamed and bought tracks of 2025 so far in the UK.
Messy by Lola Young is officially the UK’s biggest song of 2025 so far.
Racking up 597,000 chart units in the first quarter of 2025 alone (and 775,000 in total since release), the ADHD anthem has enjoyed a massive rise since its release back in June 2024.
It hit the Top 10 for the first time on the Official Christmas Chart in December, defying the odds as one of the biggest non-Christmas songs to earn its place in the biggest Top 10 of the year. In 2025, it quickly flew up the upper echelons and up to Number 1, where it stayed for four consecutive weeks.
Very close behind at Number 2 is ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ pop-punk party starter APT., which is sitting on 564,000 chart units over the opening months of the year. APT. is also the most-streamed track of 2025 so far (71.58m streams). Bruno Mars impressively also banks a second placement in the year-to-date Top 5 with Lady Gaga team-up Die With A Smile at Number 4, while Gaga herself also earns another place in the Top 40 at Number 27 with dark-pop banger Abracadabra.
Filling out the Top 5 is Gracie Abrams’ chart-topping That’s So True (3), on 512k, and The Days by Bolton-based singer, songwriter and producer Chrystal (5), with 375k chart units in 2025 so far.
Chappell Roan claims two of the UK’s Top 10 songs of the year so far with Good Luck, Babe! (7) and recent Number 1 Pink Pony Club (9). Further down, HOT TO GO! parties hard as Chappell’s third Top 40 placing (31).
A number of artists see several entries inside the Top 40 for 2025 so far; Teddy Swims (three), Sabrina Carpenter (four), Myles Smith (two), Billie Eilish (two) and Kendrick Lamar (three). Lamar’s trio includes former Number 1 Not Like Us (14), plus two collaborations with SZA; Luther (25) and All the Stars (35).
Reigning UK Number 1 hit Ordinary by Alex Warren (17) proves its mettle, landing a place in the chart just eight weeks after its release, and Alex isn’t done there – 2024 track Carry You Home squeezes into the Top 40 too (39).
Tate McRae rides into the year-to-date Top 40 with the slinky Sports car (28), closely followed by woman of the moment Doechii with showstopping debut Top 10 single DENIAL IS A RIVER (32).
Finally, more big players on 2025’s Official Singles Chart to date come from Sam Fender with People Watching (33) and WHO by K-pop superstar Jimin (36).

Man, I feel like 2025 has been an incredibly slow year for the charts so far.
Oh well, at least Doechii is making a well-deserved breakthrough!
'Abracadabra' has held up a lot better than I would've expected but definitely not complaining about it.

i wouldn’t say apt is “pop-punk”. it sounds a lot more like the ting tings than, say, sum 41.
