Texas is a high-tax state for the poor; California is not

Catering to big business and the rich is also why red states tax their lowest earners far more than California does. They punish you when you're struggling, but give you a free pass when you're wealthy. Here's the truth Republicans never tell you: California is not a high-tax state. You pay a higher percentage in taxes if you're poor in Texas than you do if you're wealthy in California. It's all about who you're fighting for.

Repealed taxes on diapers, menstrual products

While Newsom has made a habit of talking about mothers, teachers and nurses in many of his public remarks--he's also touted repealing taxes on diapers and menstrual products-- the GOP candidates seemed to avoid explicit attempts to win over female voters.

Supports tax hikes for public good

Newsom said he was supportive of the recently-adopted $52 billion gas tax hike to build up the state's infrastructure. He also supports leaning more heavily on taxpayers to fund colleges rather than increase tuition costs.
