    • Q: Is inflation ended?
    • A: It depends how you define "inflation." Democrats define "inflation" as "costs are rising"; Republicans define "inflation" as "costs are high". Inflation peaked at 9 percent in June 2022 and has been falling ever since. Democrats claim that inflation has ended (or has been "tamed") in 2024 because prices stopped rising as sharply as in 2020-2022. But prices have not come DOWN from previous years, which is the Republican definition of "inflation has not been tamed." [Click for more]

    • Q: Does illegal immigration contribute to inflation?
    • A: Republicans claim that Biden/Harris policies are to blame for the existing high prices in 2024 -- and of course that's partly true. Democrats claim that Trump's COVID policies set the stage for post-COVID inflation -- and of course that's partly true. To avoid a recession, both Trump and then Biden spent billions of taxpayer dollars-- which causes inflation (but did avoid a recession). [Click for more]

    • Q: Did Kamala Harris fail as "border czar"?
    • A: Trump succeeded in painting Kamala Harris as the "border czar" who failed to secure the border. Harris' actual role was to address the "root causes" of waves of immigration from Central America -- called the "Northern Triangle". But if immigration is a "border crisis", the right approach is to address the crisis, not address the root causes -- Trump successfully defined the playing field as a "border crisis". • Q: Will tariffs cause more inflation?
    • A: Yes, a little, but that inflation could be reversed by removing the tariff. Republicans claims that foreign countries will pay tariffs; Democrats claim that consumers will pay tariffs in the form of higher taxes; both are partly true. But Trump's proposed tariffs are not a trade policy -- it's intended as a jobs policy. Trump claims that if tariffs are high enough, foreign-based companies will move facilities to within the United States. And that the economic benefit of employment outweighs the temporary economic cost of tariffs. [Click for more]

    • Q: Did Trump win or lose the popular vote?
    • A: Trump won the popular vote. Figures below or click for more details. Yes, Trump got less than 50% of the vote, but got more votes than Harris, which is all that matters:
      Donald Trump 77,173,150 49.76%
      Kamala Harris 74,771,161 48.21%
      3rd-party candidates   2,230,539   1.45%

    • Q: Why did Kamala lose when she had a billion dollars and thousands of enthusiastic supporters?
    • A: Because that enthusiasm was relief from Biden withdrawing, and did not translate into votes. The massive donations and massive enthusiasm came from people who would have voted for any Democratic nominee anyway. What matters in the presidential election are the "undecided" voters who are committed to neitehr the Democratic nominee nor the Republican nominee -- those voters leaned toward Trump.
