MAGA Super PAC Releases New Ad Against Thomas Massie

The Trump-aligned super PAC, MAGA Kentucky, presents the reconciliation bill as tax breaks for law enforcement.

The MAGA super PAC trying to oust Rep. Thomas Massie has a new television ad attacking the Kentucky Republican for voting against the reconciliation bill — or, as the super PAC presents the legislation, tax breaks for law enforcement.

The new six-figure ad-buy from MAGA Kentucky, first shared with NOTUS, is a direct response to Massie’s own ad, where he touts his votes against government spending.

“I’m fighting,” Massie said in the ad, “and I’m just getting started.”

But now, the PAC backed by President Donald Trump is using Massie’s own words against him.

“Who’s Thomas Massie fighting for? Not the single moms who no longer pay taxes on their tips, not the police officers who no longer pay taxes on their overtime, not the seniors who no longer pay taxes on Social Security. President Trump passed those working-class tax cuts, but Thomas Massie joined the Democrats and voted no. Let’s fire Thomas Massie,” the ad says.

The group running the ads is led by top lieutenants in Trump’s political operation: Chris LaCivita, his former co-campaign manager, and Tony Fabrizio, his pollster. The group is also flush with cash, according to Federal Election Commission reports, after collectively receiving $2 million in donations from GOP mega-donors John Paulson, Paul Singer, and a super PAC affiliated with Miriam Adelson. (The group currently has $1.5 million on hand.)

MAGA Kentucky also recently spent $800,000 on another ad attacking Massie.

The Kentucky congressman drew Trump’s ire this year when he repeatedly voted against the reconciliation bill. And he only exacerbated those tensions when he started demanding answers about the administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Back in May, when asked by NOTUS what he thought of Massie, Trump said the Kentucky congressman should “be voted out of office.”

“He doesn’t understand government,” Trump said.

The president has also taken to routinely attacking Massie on Truth Social. “Thomas Massie, the worst Republican Congressman, and an almost guaranteed NO VOTE each and every time, is an Embarrassment to Kentucky” Trump wrote on July 21, adding that Massie is a “real-loser.”

Still, despite the millions of dollars set to be spent against him, defeating Massie won’t be easy.

Trump called for Republicans to “throw Massie out of Republican Party!” back in 2020. But Massie handily won his primary by 62%. Since his first primary in 2012, when he won by 16%, Massie has routinely defeated his opponents by 60% or more.

Massie also hasn’t had much trouble raising money. In the second quarter of this year, the congressman raised $584,000 and he currently has $1.7 million on hand.

Correction: A previous version of this article misattributed who paid for an earlier ad against Massie. It was MAGA Kentucky.
