Dr Matthieu Boisgontier received degrees in kinesiology and physiotherapy from Université Grenoble Alpes in France. After working as a part-time physiotherapist for five years and receiving a PhD in 2012, Professor Boisgontier pursued his career as a researcher in Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada. His main research program blends neuroscience, psychology, and health to contribute to understanding and solving the pandemic of physical inactivity. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles that have been featured in more than 600 media outlets across over 65 countries worldwide, including Le Monde, The New York Times, The Washington Post, BBC, Time Magazine, The Globe and Mail, Clarín, and El País.
