Ibrahima Niang holds a PhD in Sociology from Cheikh Anta Diop University (Dakar, Senegal). He is a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Sociology and his teaching focuses on economic sociology, International Relationships, China geopolitics in Africa. In the fall of 2023, he was a visiting research fellow at Leibniz Moderner Zentrum- Humboldt University. He has extensively visited China and was engaged in the Africa-China program at CODESRIA (Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa) and the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of the People’s University of China. He holds a Certificate in Economic Development from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Ibrahima Niang is the author/co-author of numerous scientific articles and reports on youth, development issues and migration, gender and conflicts,. He was a Fellow at the Edinburgh African Studies Center, UK, and holds an individual research fellowship from the Africa Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Sciences Research Council (SSRC). He was Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for HUMA/LASPAD OSF for the West, Central and Francophone African regional block at the University of Cape Town, Institute of Humanities (Knowledge activism – strengthening African publishing and dissemination – Open Society Foundations). Ibrahima Niang est Dr en sociologie de l'Université Cheikh Anta Diop (Dakar, Sénégal). Il est maître de conférences assimilé au département de sociologie et ses enseignements portent sur la sociologie économique, la sociologie des relations internationales, la géopolitique de la Chine en Afrique les mutations sociales et la prospective. Chercheur Post doctoral à Huma Institute University of Cape Town (2021-2022) . Directeur executif du Think Tank Institut des Etudes Africaines et Asiatiques au Sahel. Il est devenu membre du Comité executif mondial des jeunes chercheurs de la Conférence Mondiale en Sinologie en Fevrier 2024. À l'automne 2023, il a été chercheur invité au Leibniz Moderner Zentrum et de l'Université Alexander Humboldt dans le programme De-link and Re-Link concernant le Belt and Road Initiative. Il a beaucoup visité la Chine et a participé au programme Afrique-Chine du CODESRIA (Conseil pour le développement de la recherche en sciences sociales en Afrique) et de l'École d'agriculture et de développement rural de l'Université populaire de Chine en tant que chercheur visiteur
