Daphne Rena Idiz (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow with the Creative Labour and Critical Futures (CLCF) cluster in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). Daphne obtained her PhD in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, which focused on how global streaming giants reshape European cultural production. Her research interests include media industries, production cultures, streaming, and cultural policy. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Digital Media & Policy, Critical Studies in Television, the International Journal of Communication and Media, Culture & Society. She contributed to the European Commission’s Study on media plurality and diversity online. She is also co-editing a forthcoming special issue for Television & New Media on “Streaming Production Cultures.”
