I am an Associate Professor at The University of Sydney. I hold a courtesy faculty position within the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University, and an Affiliate Assistant Professorship within the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at The University of Washington.
My research addresses how humans modify the patterns of animal ecology and diversity that we witness today and possible solutions for improving ecological outcomes. I have addressed these questions by focusing on two critical human/animal dimensions. First, how humans modify terrestrial food web dynamics. Second, how human perturbations to the environment (including climate change) affects species persistence. I use field and modelling studies to reveal the impacts of human actions on ecosystems, and to identify opportunities for improving the health and integrity of planet earth, especially through species reintroductions, habitat restoration, invasive species control and by reducing human-wildlife conflict.
In 2018 I established the Global Ecology Lab at The University of Sydney.
