Omu Omu Time ~♬ An Unexpected Western Restaurant in Such a Place!
Sometimes, I crave Omurice. I’m always drawn to traditional Western cuisine. On this occasion, I visited a residential area in Wakabayashi Ward, surrounded by corporate buildings on a quiet back street. It’s not a place I’d usually venture into without a specific reason. When I arrived for lunch, the parking lot was full and the place was bustling—what a surprise! Inside, there’s a counter, table seating, and even second-floor seating. Many different guests seemed to be dining. From the menu, I ordered the Shrimp Fry & Omurice Set. Now, let’s begin the meal. First, the presentation of the Omurice is beautiful! The chef clearly knows what they’re doing. The demi-glace sauce has a slightly strong sweetness. While it has depth, it feels like a flavor geared towards children. Personally, I prefer a milder sweetness as it keeps the flavors interesting, so opinions may vary on this. It would be nice if ketchup were also an option for the sauce... In the ketchup rice, there are a few ingredients, but I’d love to see a bit more like onions and bell peppers. The shrimp fry was freshly made and wonderfully crispy! However, it did have a slight greasiness; a lighter flavor would make it even better. Overall, I think the chef has good skills. It was a great meal!

Suddenly, autumn has arrived! Everyone, please take great care of your health. By the way, I came across this restaurant by chance, and it's really in a location that's hard to find, so you wouldn't find it without some recommendations or searches! I visited before and enjoyed the food, so this time I brought J along for a revisit. Even on a Saturday afternoon, after 1 PM, the place was almost full. There was only one spot open in the parking lot, which was a relief. The restaurant has both 1F and 2F, and it seems 2F is for smoking. We sat at a table on the 1F and glanced at the menu. ● Pork Shabu-Shabu Ginger Set Meal ● Hamburg Steak Plate We ordered these two items. The pork shabu-shabu ginger was made with Wakayama’s premium Moti Pork, and indeed, it was tender and high-quality meat. The seasoning was a bit stronger, but the sweet and savory flavor was addictive! Accompanied by miso soup, freshly harvested rice, pickles, salad, and side dishes—it’s hard to believe this set meal at this quality is just JPY 950! On the other hand, the hamburg steak plate, which was JPY 880 tax included, featured about 150g of a finely ground pork patty that was incredibly tender. You could say it’s a hamburg steak that doesn’t need a knife! The sauce was a blend of ketchup and a tangy flavor, which I thought was quite good. They served new rice, so the rice was incredibly delicious... this made me very happy! The interior has a slightly stylish vibe, so it would be nice for a weekend lunch date... though that’s irrelevant! (laughs) It was a great meal!
