ChefTomohisa Matsumoto - A Beloved Master Chef Adored by Many Customers
Born in 1951 and hailing from Miyazaki Prefecture, he aspired to become a sushi chef in his teens and trained at a sushi restaurant in Osaka. After that, he returned to Miyazaki and opened a sushi restaurant in Sadowara Town in his twenties, which became a beloved local establishment. In 1990, the 15th year of his business, he relocated to Nishitachibanadori, the busiest shopping district in Miyazaki City. He renovated the restaurant into an izakaya, and since then, it has been cherished by many customers for a long time. His motto is "to provide fresh ingredients and freshly made dishes." The fried chicken, carefully deep-fried at high temperatures, is highly recommended and has gained a reputation as a must-try dish.
Food "Freshly Caught Local Ingredients, Served as Freshly Prepared Dishes"
The charm of the izakaya "Tenichi" lies in its fresh ingredients and freshly prepared dishes. On the counter, you can find seasonal delights, such as freshly caught Tōwatari crabs from the waters off Sadowara and shiitake mushrooms from Takachiho during late autumn. These ingredients are served using simple cooking methods to bring out their natural flavors. Additionally, the popular sashimi platter features mostly morning-caught fish delivered from Nichinan City. For a finishing touch, the lettuce roll sushi, which originated in Miyazaki, is a favorite among patrons.
Drink"From Classics to New Releases, Focusing on a Wide Selection of Miyazaki Shochu."
The selection of drinks is handled by Sachiko, the owner. She personally visits liquor stores to select shochu primarily from Miyazaki's breweries to feature on the menu. The shochu is served with ice and water, allowing customers to adjust the strength to their liking. Local beer from "Unkai Brewery" in Aya, Miyazaki is also available, along with several representative brands of sake from across the country.
