On a clear autumn weekend, my family and I headed to the hotel for a lunch buffet... "Okura Hotel Marugame" This is probably the largest hotel in Marugame, I think. But, why go to a hotel in Marugame for a lunch buffet, especially when we're not even staying overnight? I guess I need to explain... Well, it all began with a story from a hot, hot summer... Sorry for the long explanation! Every year, I end up buying about five advance tickets for the beer hall at the Okura Hotel Takamatsu due to tradition. When we were planning to go with five people, one person couldn’t make it, leaving us with an extra ticket. I heard that refunds were not available, and since the beer hall was still open for a while, I thought, “I’ll keep it and use it when we go again this year!” But I forgot about it. Just when I remembered the ticket this weekend, the beer hall was fully booked and I missed out on going! 😅 However, since I knew the lunch buffet at the hotel could use the ticket, I made an inquiry... To my disappointment, I discovered that the lunch buffet at the Okura Hotel Takamatsu was canceled this year. Where would I use it then? If this continues, my JPY 4,000 ticket is just a scrap of paper! 😅 After asking around, I learned that the lunch buffet at the Okura Hotel Marugame, which is part of the same chain, could use the ticket... and that’s why we’re here! ('◇')ゞ It’s my first time at this hotel, but... As expected, it’s big and has a nice view! 🎶 Wow, I didn’t know there was a hot spring in the hotel where I could see the Seto Ohashi Bridge! (゜Д゜) It seems to be for staying guests only, though... 😅 So, where’s the lunch buffet venue...? There it is! "Green Lounge". Given the season, it seems they are holding a Halloween Fair... Since it's on the first floor of the hotel, the important view is blocked by lush greenery! 😅 The restaurant has large open glass windows letting in bright sunshine, giving it a clean and cheerful feel. There are deep-fried skewers, gratin, and baked meatloaf among other dishes... Considering the food, I’d guess around 30 different items? The selection felt just okay... They were making Neapolitan spaghetti in the open kitchen Oh, true to Sanuki style, there were no udon, but I found ramen instead! So I put together a little feast! It might sound neutral when I say there wasn’t a standout dish, but I can’t deny that feel... Given that it’s JPY 1,500 per person for adults, expecting something extravagant like meat or fish might be too much? 😅 Still, I happily had two servings of the curry rice iconic to buffets! It was quite tasty and rich. 😊 I ended with soft serve ice cream that you can make however you like! 🎶 As I said, it’s hard to call this a luxurious and lavish lunch buffet, but I felt it was a nice place for a leisurely lunch in a bright, spacious setting... The lunch buffet at the largest hotel in Marugame... I enjoyed it at a relaxed pace.
