We visited as a family of four. Since the pandemic, we have been ordering takeout more often, but for my birthday, we decided to dine in for the first time in a while. The same dish can taste different depending on who prepares it, and this time the mapo tofu was overall sweet with more numbness than spiciness, resulting in a lack of umami. (When it’s delicious, the numbness is a bit spicy but balanced with umami.) The glass noodle salad was sweeter than usual, enhanced by not only sweet vinegar but also garlic. (This was actually tastier than usual.) I tried the stir-fried beef with mushrooms for the first time, and I found the flavor a bit too strong... The beef was chewy and tough in some parts, which was disappointing. I forgot to take a picture of the stir-fried pork with wood ear mushrooms, which is usually seasoned with salt, but this time it had a flavor reminiscent of oyster sauce. It was tasty, but... the service is unfortunately lacking at this restaurant.
