After enjoying a ginger pork plate lunch at a café run by a friendly owner, I headed to the nearby coffee shop to relax over some tea, but noticed a few changes. The previous establishment had a dining space, but it seems the business model has been partially modified. It appeared that while beverages like coffee were still being sold, they were for takeout only. There were no chairs or tables outside, so I decided to forgo the drinks and instead purchased some sweets to enjoy with my tea at home. I visited [b:FATCAT BAKERS]. Previously known as FATCAT COFFEE, this café has recently undergone renovations, discontinuing in-house dining and shifting to a sales-only model. I noticed that the sign had already changed. Arriving around 2 PM, the store had a solid counter and wall between the sales area and the customer space. Customers were served through a glass door, where the products were displayed, and the names and prices were written on the glass. When I called out, the owner from a spacious kitchen came out to assist, and I requested a few items that caught my eye. I ordered [b:1 piece of 'Chocolate Brownie' for JPY 378 (tax included)]. I ordered [b:1 piece of 'Blueberry Scone' for JPY 378 (tax included)]. I ordered [b:1 piece of 'Plain Waffle' for JPY 378 (tax included)]. The uniform pricing made it easy to understand. The owner was approachable and answered my questions politely while carefully packing my items into a paper bag. After taking them home, I waited for my wife to return in the evening for a slightly late tea time. We decided to share one item by cutting it in half. The blueberry scone had a delightful flavor and aroma. It was simply delicious. I regretted that the plain scone was sold out, as I had really wanted that one. The brownie had a rich chocolate flavor, satisfying and substantial—truly authentic. The waffle, which I would have loved to have fresh out of the oven, was still quite tasty even cold. Overall, all items were simple yet thoroughly delicious baked goods. The shop is open twice a week, and the limited hours make it tricky to visit, so it’s best to go as early as possible if you plan to stop by. It would be great if there were chairs and tables outside, as it would allow for a more casual and enjoyable experience. I've corrected the page listings and links due to the name change.
