I visited Kamotsuru, a scenic restaurant located between Uraga and Kannonzaki, for the first time in two years. Even though it was a weekday, it’s a popular spot, so I made a reservation about a week in advance to avoid missing out, as I had twice before. When I arrived just after noon, the free parking lot in front of the restaurant was full. However, unlike two years ago, there wasn’t a long line, and I saw three cars leave the parking lot just as I arrived, so I was able to park without any issues! The counter was fully booked, but they kindly reserved a spacious tatami room for us, which was great! Due to supply issues, there were no sashimi options available. I remembered that my favorite dish is the kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot), and I initially thought my friend and I would both order the octopus kamameshi. However, I was advised that since there were two of us, it would be better to order different types, so we decided on scallop and octopus. The total came to JPY 4,900, or JPY 2,450 each. We started with three types of appetizers, pickled takana, and a sashimi platter (it seemed that only the set meal options were available that day). The platter included Kanpachi, hotaru ika, grilled tachiuo, sea bream, and natural hon maguro. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and incredibly delicious! We also enjoyed a flavorful fish soup. I left feeling completely satisfied! My friend was particularly thrilled with the octopus kamameshi, so next time, we’ll likely order two servings of that! I also plan to try the shirasu don and tuna croquette on our next visit.
