During Golden Week, I didn't have any plans for a trip, so I spent my time shopping and running errands. While I was out shopping near Kawasaki Station, I decided to grab lunch. I headed to Muza Kawasaki, specifically to the area known as "40-Banchi Gourmet Alley" on the first floor, which features a variety of unique and interesting eateries. Many places are closed on weekends and holidays, so I wasn't expecting much, but then I spotted this restaurant. I had visited once before in the evening and found it to be a very stylish small eatery. They have a grand menu, but also a lunch menu available only during the day! Moreover, the set meals are priced around JPY 1,000, which is quite reasonable in today's economy. Since I had enjoyed the wonderful dishes during dinner, I had high hopes for lunch as well. The interior has many two and four-person sofa seats, which are designed with high backs, creating a cozy booth-like atmosphere. Looking at the lunch menu, I saw options like ginger pork, miso stew, lu rou fan, yakisoba, chinjao rosu, and a seafood assortment, offering both Japanese and Chinese dishes. After some deliberation, I chose the first item on the list! - Hidaka Yotsumoto Kamui Pork Ginger Pork Set Meal (Soy Sauce Flavor) (JPY 950, tax included) What caught my attention was the detailed name of the dish (laughs). First of all, Yotsumoto pork is a crossbreed of four different pig breeds: Landrace, Large Yorkshire, Duroc, and Berkshire (black pork lineage). The original brand pork called "Kamui Pork" is raised at a designated farm in the Hidaka region of Hokkaido. Kamui Pork is pronounced "Kamui ton." The set meal includes ginger pork, salad, rice, and miso soup. You can choose between soy sauce and miso flavor for the ginger pork, but I opted for soy sauce to savor the unique taste of the pork. It was rich in fat and incredibly tender. I could also taste a hint of sweetness and a strong umami flavor, indicating it was high-quality meat. The salad was just shredded cabbage, but it made a great palate cleanser. The round dish on the right was pork miso, which was quite delicious as well. The miso soup with wakame and wheat gluten had a lovely aroma. The rice was cooked a bit firmer, and although I couldn't identify the brand, it was definitely good quality. Overall, it was a lunch that truly felt like it belonged to Arukuhana! I was also intrigued by the limited quantity seafood platter available during lunch, so I’ll definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal!
