While searching for a place to dine during Obon, I found this one available and made a reservation. It's a JPY 7,000 course, but the side dishes and vegetables are selectable. The counter was completely full by 7 PM. Additionally, the menu does not list any prices (-_-;) I ordered two draft beers, a bottle of sparkling wine, a lemon sour, and a mysterious gin and tonic (you'll understand when you order it—it seems to be citrus-flavored). Appetizer... Corn and Asparagus Gruel "The karasumi (salted mullet roe) sprinkled on top made the sweet corn delicious and I enjoyed every bite." Sashimi... Today's Sashimi "Skipjack tuna and Awaji sea bream. For an additional JPY 1,800, you can add uni (sea urchin)—this was the first time I saw a price)." Main Dishes... Choose two from the following (they change by season): - Conger eel with Kujo green onion ✓ "I saw them preparing the conger eel right in front of the counter—so tempting with its scrumptious sound! Great job!" - Grilled eel and yellow garlic spring rolls - Wagyu tataki ✓ "Served with Kyoto seasoning and grated daikon, it's flavorful and spicy." Vegetables... Choose two from the following (they change by season): - Turnip simmered in clear broth - Kuse eggplant with okra ✓ "The paste consistency of the okra pairs excellently with the eggplant." - White sweet potato with sesame cream ✓ "The sesame flavor was great." The course ended here. Additional dish... Crispy Pork "With sesame sprinkled on it, the crispy surface combined with something spicy made it outstanding." Final dish... Light Ramen "A Japanese-style ramen with a delicious broth." I noticed other customers ordering "aji sushi," which you can choose between raw or grilled. If you choose grilled, there's a performance involving charcoal grilling… the interior was all white and quite amusing. The menu is extensive, and I wish I could have tried more variety. Most of the staff members seemed to be young artisans who moved very quickly. The final cost was at least JPY 1,000 more than the amount spent. I wish the prices for drinks were listed—it would help keep things under control.
