It was my son's birthday, so we took a little road trip to celebrate. My son studies at a university far away, so he comes home only a few times a year. This time, we decided to treat ourselves a bit more luxuriously. When booking the hotel, I noticed a dinner plan that included a whole crab. I decided to give it a try. The crabs from this area near the Sea of Okhotsk are known for being delicious, and the freezing technology here is outstanding. It must be great! After arriving, we enjoyed a soak in the hot springs before heading to the dinner venue... We had hair crab, sashimi, appetizers, chilled chawanmushi, and octopus shabu-shabu... it was overwhelming with so much food. The octopus shabu-shabu we usually have at home is frozen, but here they served fresh octopus! We started with the appetizers, which were incredibly tasty. The vinegared dishes were delicious too... and the octopus shabu-shabu was perfect for enjoying raw as sashimi. The scallops here are remarkable; the sashimi from the Sea of Okhotsk is truly something special! Now, about the hair crab: it was so packed with meat that it felt heavy. With such freshness, there was no off-putting smell at all. The crab miso was plenty... I was speechless. Wow, I was so full. Just then, beef hanging tender barbecue was served. I had it along with salmon rice and miso soup, with less rice than usual. This yakiniku was also delicious... even though I was full, I just kept eating. After dinner, we had dessert... What a treat! Everything was delicious. The parents enjoyed themselves under the guise of celebrating my son's birthday. I would love to do this again next year. The service was pleasant, and we had a great time. It was a fantastic meal!
