I arrived at 12:30 PM on a weekday. There were two groups ahead of me with two people each, and one person came in after. Located along Route 238 in Oubu, near Oubu Port, I visited with two colleagues on a business trip. The interior felt very much like a countryside diner, with a wide show playing on the TV. It’s run by a couple, a dandy yet kind-looking gentleman and his wife. The menu includes ramen, curry, katsudon, and rice bowls among other items. I immediately spotted the top menu item ‘Miso Ramen’... Oh, but they have Katsudon Ramen too! So, I ordered the ‘Katsudon Ramen (Miso)’ (JPY 1300), which is an additional JPY 400 for the pork cutlet on top of the regular ramen. My two colleagues opted for the ‘Hiyashi Ramen’ from the wall menu, which seems to be a summer limited item. About 15 minutes later, our dishes arrived after the previous guests. I had never tried Katsudon Ramen before. The large pork cutlet covered the bowl, with crispy batter and tender meat—absolutely delicious! The broth had a nostalgic yet rich miso flavor, also tasty! The cutlet’s batter paired perfectly with this broth! The noodles had a medium level of firmness. There were two small slices of chashu, with a nice chewy texture. Vegetables included green onions, bok choy, and wakame, along with menma and narutomaki. I was very satisfied with the miso ramen alone. For a local ramen, I think it was a hit. My first experience with Katsudon Ramen was delightful! I was quite full. If I get the chance again, I might try the Katsudon.
