Cafe Ru-we is conveniently located just a short distance from the Kafuka Ferry Terminal on Rebun Island. I visited for the first time on a weekday morning around 10 AM. The cafe operates from 10 AM to 6 PM and is also associated with a guesthouse called "Nonno." Inside, there are 3 counter seats and 6 table seats. They offer Wi-Fi, but no power outlets, and the space is non-smoking. The menu features dishes like rich beef tendon curry (JPY 900), hamburger plate (JPY 1,000), tamagokake gohan (TKG) (JPY 500), and today's cake (JPY 400). On weekends, homemade bread is also available. For drinks, they have coffee, lattes, lemonade, and a craft beer exclusive to Rebun Island (JPY 1,200). In summer, they offer a sea urchin rice bowl for JPY 5,000. I wanted to enjoy a light tea and something sweet, so I asked about today's cake. The options were fondant chocolate, omelette cake, or chiffon cake; all sounded tempting! After some deliberation, I chose the fondant chocolate with iced coffee. - Today's Cake (Fondant Chocolate) JPY 400 - Coffee (Iced) JPY 500 My order was served in just a few minutes. The fondant chocolate came with a dollop of whipped cream and was shaped like a muffin. When I broke into it, warm, gooey chocolate sauce oozed out. The chocolate was rich, and the cake itself was moist and wonderfully sweet. I was able to make the payment using PayPay. The atmosphere was relaxed and made for a perfect spot to unwind.
