On my way back to Sapporo after exploring various places on my day off, I decided to stop by here in Rusutsu. The shop opens from 8 AM to 7 PM, so I had been curious about it being open both in the morning and late hours. After doing some research, I found out that this is a long-established store that has been in business for nearly a century. So, I thought it would be worth the visit. I arrived at the shop in the evening. The signature product here is the miso manju, and I heard previous customers purchasing it. Fortunately, I got lucky and managed to buy freshly made miso manju! Since these are one-bite-sized, I bought 10 of them along with some souvenirs. By the way, there are no additives in the miso manju, so they don't last long and should be eaten right away. Being freshly made, I decided to try one immediately. The miso manju features a chewy outer skin with a hint of brown sugar flavor, and it's filled with smooth red bean paste made from Tokachi azuki beans. The red bean paste is smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. Because of this, the bite-sized manju is very easy to eat, and I could easily finish 2 or 3 in no time. Getting to enjoy the freshly made ones made a significant difference; the flavor was rich and delightful. Even later, I warmed them up a bit at home, and they were still delicious. I originally bought 10 as a trial souvenir for my parents, but I think I could have bought more. If I have another chance, I’d love to stop by again and buy some more. It was a great meal!
