カレー蕎麦..食べました！ : Soba Dokoro Chokichi

What should I eat for lunch? I couldn't think of anything at all. My companion suggested, "How about soba?" So, we came to this place, which is the closest one to our workplace. Honestly, this restaurant is neither outstanding nor terrible. It's just an ordinary neighborhood soba shop. (Laughs) As soon as I entered, the aroma of curry hit me, so I ended up ordering the curry soba. It costs JPY 780 with a small serving of rice. I guess that's a pretty average price? After about 10 minutes of waiting, my dish was ready. The broth is incredibly thick. The meat is pork, huh? I always thought curry soba had chicken, and curry udon had pork, so this feels a bit off to me. As for the taste, it was exactly as I described—completely ordinary. I enjoyed it with about three bites of the rice. I will probably visit again sometime!

I didn't think I'd be back for a second visit, but due to various circumstances, I decided to go. It's not a big reason, really. I just didn't have much time and this place was right in front of me, so I went in (laughs). I ordered the "Mini Tempura Rice Bowl Set" for JPY 880. The soba was served warm. For a place like this, it's got to be warm, right? (^_^;) It took under 10 minutes for my order to arrive. Well then, let's dig in! The mini tempura rice bowl... It comes with a proper-sized shrimp tempura, enveloped in egg. The rice is served separately. The soup is soba dipping sauce, slightly on the salty side. The portion of rice is normal. On the flip side, the soba is quite small. So I think "Mini soba included with Tempura Rice Bowl Set" would be more accurate (laughs). The mini soba, like last time... is neither great nor terrible. Just your average town soba. I'm satisfied with the portion size! It was a great meal. As for a return visit... there might be one! (^_-)-☆

A place suitable for both solo diners and families. --------------------------------- Today’s lunch was at Soba Dokoro Chokichi. There wasn't anything exceptional, but it was easy to access from the main road (^-^;) Inside the restaurant, being a weekday lunch, there were many salarymen. For my order... I asked for the Mini Curry Set with cold soba. After about 10 minutes of waiting, it arrived. Hmm... I understand the curry being mini, but... the soba is also mini (-_-;) Considering it's JPY 870, the cost-performance ratio isn't great. So, I took a bite of the soba... Wow... it’s lukewarm, lacks firmness, and has no aroma. I tasted the dipping sauce... lukewarm and sweet... (~_~;) Well, this isn't exactly a soba restaurant... Oh wait! It is a soba restaurant (laughs). As for the curry, it's just regular curry with no distinguishing features. And about the soba-yu (hot water from boiling soba)... it never came, no matter how long I waited. Looking around, it seems that those who ordered soba alone are getting soba-yu, but not those who ordered sets. At any rate, I left feeling somewhat unsatisfied? So, it seems this place is mainly convenient to access. I probably won’t be coming back for a second visit (laughs).
