We took our dog on a 6-night, 7-day trip to Hokkaido. On the first day, we stayed at La'Gent Stay, conveniently located next to Hakodate Station. Only a minute's walk from the station, this hotel also offers pet-friendly rooms. Our reservation only included breakfast, so we decided to venture out to find some food nearby. Since we had come all the way to Hakodate, we wanted to try some seafood and headed to a nearby conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Unfortunately, we were told there was a 2-hour wait due to the long weekend. Hokkaido is also famous for Jingisukan, so we tried to visit a restaurant known for it, only to be asked, "Do you have a reservation?" It made us wonder if reservations were strictly necessary. We were informed that without a reservation, we would have to wait about 30 to 40 minutes. However, given that it was the weekend, we decided to wait since finding another place would be a hassle. More and more customers without reservations arrived, but it seemed like we were the only ones able to wait. Many of them were told they would have to wait over an hour and were practically turned away. This restaurant was a popular spot I had found on Tabelog and is located inside the adjacent Hakobiba facility. Thankfully, we were finally seated after about 20 minutes of waiting. Since our dog was waiting in the room, we quickly placed our order: One serving of Special Beef Tongue, Four servings of Special Fresh Lamb (I later added one more serving for a total of five), An assorted platter of vegetables, An assorted platter of namul, and An assorted platter of kimchi, among others. The flavors were decent; the Special Beef Tongue was just okay, while the fresh lamb was tender and had a delightful, mild taste. The assorted vegetable platter turned out to contain more than I expected, allowing us to enjoy the veggies soaked in the juices from the lamb meat, cooked on the elevated teppan-yaki in the center. Both the namul and kimchi platters were delicious, making it the right choice to come here. Although the sauce seemed a bit mild for my liking; I prefer a tad more seasoning for my rice. Nonetheless, everything was truly delicious. We finished the meat in about 30 minutes and returned to our hotel room, where our dog had been patiently waiting. He seemed tired from the Shinkansen ride and was quietly sleeping in his crate—a good boy! The journey has only just begun, and there is a lot more delicious food to enjoy! It was a great meal!
