A convenient spot to enjoy Okinawan cuisine
This is an Okinawa soba restaurant located near the Yasutake Intersection along Prefectural Road 23 in Kurume City. The sign in front of the shop is not very noticeable, so be careful not to miss it as you pass by. There is parking available for about 10 cars, and in the back, you'll find a shop with an eye-catching light green roof. Upon entering, you'll see an array of Okinawan products, making it feel like a little Okinawa specialty store. Towards the back, there is an eat-in space with tables. I ordered the Soki Soba for JPY 680 and the set menu of Sixteen Grain Jushi for JPY 100. The Soki Soba features a deliciously mild broth rich with bonito dashi, perfectly complementing the chewy noodles. Adding the provided island chili seasoning and bonito tsukudani enhances the flavor even further. The Soki, which is well-simmered, is packed with umami, though it can be a bit challenging to eat since it comes on the bone. The Sixteen Grain Jushi was also delightful, offering a gentle flavor with fluffy rice. Overall, the portion of Soki Soba was generous, and it's a place where you can enjoy affordable and delicious Okinawan cuisine.

Okinawa Soba Kitayatei
We prepare our meat and broth from scratch every day at our restaurant. Starting September 11, 2023, we will also offer limited-time kakigori (shaved ice). Our shop features a variety of Okinawan prod |
I entered the restaurant around 1 PM. I wanted to try the jushi, but all rice dishes were already sold out. Since the vegetable soba would take some time, I opted for the Soki Soba for JPY 680. It featured a refreshing broth and meaty soki, allowing me to enjoy the flavors of Okinawa conveniently.
