Located right in front of Toyokawa Inari at the entrance of Omotesando, Okitsune Honpo is a highly popular shop with long lines every day for take-away sales during the New Year’s period. While they are well-known for their inari sushi, what I'm really craving is this special B-grade gourmet treat!! ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Okitsune Burger JPY 350, tax included ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ When you think of Toyokawa Inari, you think of foxes. And when you think of foxes, you think of aburaage (fried tofu). Instead of regular hamburger buns, they use thick and fluffy aburaage, filled with crispy tonkatsu and lettuce, seasoned with ketchup. When I visited in the afternoon on the 4th, I waited less than 15 minutes in line. The lady at the back of the line was calling out, "We have two registers running, so it’s quick! It’s quick!" I truly believe that waiting for this delicious burger is not a painful experience at all. I ended up ordering two for JPY 700, tax included. I came up with a fun idea: Let’s stack them and make it a Double Okitsune Burger! It’s quite impactful, isn’t it? The combination of the crispy aburaage and the tonkatsu inside offers a delightful texture! The aburaage isn’t too rich either, so it quickly disappears in your mouth, making it unbelievably addictive. You can’t start the year without trying this! As soon as you enter Omotesando, look to the left side for a cute spot with a fox painting on the metal exterior; It’s perfect for a photo to capture the essence of Toyokawa Inari.
