I ordered the Mutton Karahi (JPY 1,300) at Fujira Halal Food in Yatomi. I had my first taste of "Karahi" at a nearby Pakistani restaurant recently, and I was blown away by how delicious it was. I was determined to order it again at Fujira Halal, knowing it was the same type of cuisine. It shouldn't be too difficult to replicate. Fujira Halal is known for its Kabuli Pulao, as everyone seems to rave about it in the reviews. However, I decided to ask the staff, "Can you make Karahi? With mutton?" "OK," they replied. First, the naan. To be honest, it was delicious. I've tried naan from various places including India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, but this was the best I've ever had. It was fluffy and chewy, with no toppings, yet it had a subtle doughy aroma and a delightful flavor that lingered in my nose with each bite. The raita was the type with finely chopped green and yellow vegetables, which was tasty. The salad was also quite substantial compared to other Pakistani restaurants, making it very satisfying. It had a strong salad flavor and a hint of acidity, showing that some effort went into it. Now, onto the Karahi. Wait a minute... isn't Karahi supposed to be more chewy? This one was quite soupy... I couldn't help but think it felt like mutton curry with green chili added, even though I've only had Karahi once before. It definitely lacked the necessary tomato flavor. That said, this curry was indeed tasty in its own right, but I wished it had a bit more spice. It seemed like they might have made it mild for my taste. There was a good amount of mutton, but I would have preferred a bit more meat on the bones. Also, I felt like there was a little less gravy than I expected. Despite my various thoughts, I was overall satisfied. I realized that I really enjoy mutton dishes in Pakistani cuisine, and it opened up a new world for me. Now I feel like I want to visit Pakistan. I think I've tried all the Pakistani restaurants around Yatomi, and I can appreciate the unique qualities of each place. I also want to explore the curry shops around Nagoya Port, but they are a bit far. Next time at Fujira Halal, I will definitely try the Kabuli Pulao that everyone recommends. They only accept cash and have parking available. Thank you for the meal!
