Rare Bar with Over 1200 Types of Japanese Sake, Shochu, and Unique Spirits! Just 30 Seconds from Numabukuro Station North Exit!
Just 15 seconds from Numabukuro North Exit, our hidden bar on the second floor is a cozy spot illuminated by stained glass. We have over 1200 types of Japanese sake, shochu, and rare spirits available |
In front of Numabukuro Station, there is a house-style ramen shop called 'Gokukiya' on the first floor. From the exterior and menu, it seems like they are an independent shop spun off from a franchise. Above it is this bar. The signboard at the entrance has scrolling text, and the walls of the staircase leading to the second floor are plastered with colorful photos of cocktails and desserts that they seem quite proud of. Honestly, I had a somewhat flashy impression and felt hesitant to enter, but craving some Western liquor, I dared to give it a try. I had imagined it would have something like a dartboard, but upon entering, the atmosphere was quite normal. I sat at the counter, which was stacked with an impressive array of bottles, and the back bar had an even greater number. From what I could tell, there were many Scotch whiskies, mainly from independent bottlers. Though I’m not very knowledgeable, I could tell there were some rare whiskies just from the look of the labels. I ordered the black Basque cheesecake and opted for a recommendation for the whiskey. The drink I was served was a Scotch called 'Glen Wyvis.' It was aged in Tennessee barrels, Oloroso sherry casks, and perhaps something else, making it incredibly smooth and delicious. I enjoyed it so much that I couldn't help but order a second. Having such a collection of bottles suggests they must have a steady stream of customers or perhaps some ties to a wealthy family, but I can't say for sure. What I do know is that this bar offers surprisingly good drinks. The name is quite unique; does it have to do with being a graduate of Nakano 11th Junior High School or something?
