Searching for a lunch that can only be found in Kichijoji, I visited the famous tempura rice bowl restaurant, Kaneko Ya! ☆ I arrived around 2:30 PM on a weekday, thinking it might be less crowded since it was a bit past lunch hours. However, true to its popularity, there were about 10 people in line! I got in after about 30 minutes, and just before entering, they came to take my order. So, once I was seated, my tempura rice bowl arrived within a few minutes! ✨️ The menu offers four options: Matsutake, Chiku, Ume, and a large shrimp bowl. I ordered the Ume (with maitake mushrooms), and it was packed with not just mushrooms, but also shrimp, seaweed, shishito peppers, squid, and a soft-boiled egg, making it quite hearty! At just JPY 1,000 (plus JPY 130 for miso soup), I think it's an unbeatable value. It was a great meal! ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ )
