I visited the much-talked-about Dinner in the Sky JAPAN. As someone who is a bit afraid of heights, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety when I heard that we would be lifted by a crane. However, as I looked up at the giant crane at Kiranagarden Toyosu, my worries turned into a strange sense of exhilaration. After checking in, the staff kindly explained the safety measures, which helped me regain some calm. While waiting to board, I was relieved to see that the gondola was larger than I had imagined. Once seated, I was securely fastened with a safety belt and reassured that there would be minimal swaying. Moments later, the crane began to move slowly, and I could feel the angle of my seat changing. As we ascended, the sounds of the city faded away, leaving only the sound of the wind. When we reached the top, the rounded Tokyo Bay and the skyline filled my view, leaving me momentarily speechless. What awaited us was a Western-style osechi meal. The colorful appetizers served in a small bento box were visually stunning. From the escabeche of angel shrimp to the Wagyu tataki, each dish was meticulously prepared despite the variety. The main course included braised beef cheek in red wine and confit of red snapper, designed to stay warm even at high altitudes. Combined with the pleasant breeze, it felt like a truly special dining experience. I heard that the cost for the sunset time in the evening is around JPY 40,000, which honestly felt a bit steep. However, considering the luxurious whiskey, the short yet rich dining program, and the unique memories it offers, it seems justifiable. For those who are not afraid of heights, this breathtaking view will be a significant thrill. As the gondola slowly rotated, I enjoyed delicious dishes while gazing at the Rainbow Bridge and distant towers. Safety measures were taken very seriously, and I was informed that operations would be suspended in case of strong winds. That said, since sudden weather changes are unpredictable, I believe it’s essential to plan and prepare if you decide to go. When I boarded, there was a slight breeze, but I hardly noticed any swaying during the experience. During the transition from a graceful sunset to a night view, the sparkle of the city became even more pronounced, allowing me to deeply enjoy the aerial scenery while seated comfortably. It was also delightful to see the Tokyo Tower and Skytree from certain angles. At night, the gondola was beautifully illuminated, making for excellent photo opportunities. This venue seems perfect for those celebrating anniversaries or planning surprises for loved ones. For those who enjoy unique experiences, this is a perfect fit. The combination of height, scenery, and charming bento creates a sense of exclusivity that is hard to find in a ground-level restaurant. However, since reservations are required and prices are on the higher side, I recommend being well-prepared before visiting. Initially, I hesitated due to my fear of heights and the cost, but the satisfaction I felt after participating was immense. The view from this aerial restaurant was a blend of surprise and joy. I was initially hesitant to recline my seat, but when I finally did, I found myself peering straight down, which made my heart race, but it was a thrilling experience. Being in such an extraordinary situation created vivid memories, and I’m glad I took part. I never expected that the fusion of sky and dining could be such an enjoyable event.
