Ootoya is a reliable chain restaurant. It's conveniently located near the station, and since there aren't many other Japanese eateries around, it tends to be crowded during dinner time. It's just right when you're craving a set meal. Though it can sometimes feel like it takes a while for the food to arrive due to the crowd, the ambiance is pleasant, so I didn't feel dissatisfied. I often order the grilled fish set meal or ozoni (a traditional soup) and it’s always delicious. The restaurant has a spacious and tidy atmosphere. Being on the second floor likely adds to that feeling of openness. When I visited with a group of eight friends, we were easily able to sit at connected tables. It seems like a great spot for larger gatherings.
