I visited on a Sunday afternoon, having made a reservation through Ikkyu. The tea area was nearly full, bustling with groups of women, as well as families with babies. The space isn’t very large, but it has a sparkling ceiling, large sofas, and spacious chairs that offer a sense of elegance. ■ Tea There is a wide variety of teas, and you can switch the tea leaves as many times as you like. Coffee is also available. The first cup served is the "Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo Original Himalayan Blend," which has a wonderful aroma and deep flavor, prompting both my companion and me to exclaim, "Delicious!" ■ Scones Three types of warm scones are served. After eating three, I felt quite satisfied. - Classic - Pumpkin - Walnut ■ Savories One of the highlights of Shangri-La is its Japanese-style offerings. - Soba Sushi - Open Inari Sushi - Tartine with Saint Andre Cheese and Celery Root - Sandwich with Barbecue Beef and Watercress ■ Sweets This time, the selection was Halloween-themed. They looked incredibly adorable, which was sure to uplift any woman’s spirits. The cake sizes are fairly generous and filling. - Pear Mousse - Caramel Nut and Praline Tart - Purple Sweet Potato Cream Puff - Mont Blanc The afternoon tea is limited to two hours. We were chatting away, and before we knew it, time flew by, causing us to miss out on trying two or three types of cakes. Given its popularity, I understand, but I wish we could have enjoyed it a bit more leisurely.
