It's been a while since my last post. Today, I accompanied my parents to the hospital in Kamojima. After the hospital visit, we decided to go for lunch. When I'm alone or with my brother, a ramen shop would be my first choice, but since I'm with my parents, we're heading to a udon restaurant. We arrived at my favorite spot, Udonya Ichi. Even though it’s during the Obon holiday, the parking lot is empty. Lucky us! Once inside, I was surprised to see about 30 to 40 people lined up. It felt like a Jiro-style queue (laughs). We gave up and headed to Udonya Ichi, which has high ratings on Tabelog. It was lunchtime, so the parking lot was full, but we managed to find a spot. There were two groups ahead of us in line, and I wrote our names in the notebook. It’s not a self-service restaurant, as they fry the tempura fresh for each order, so the turnover isn’t very quick. After about 20 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the large Ebi Ten Bukkake, my brother got the warm udon with Negi Mayo Chicken Rice Bowl, and my mother chose the Ebi Ten Udon and onigiri. The broth for the bukkake was too sweet for my taste, and the udon had a weaker texture, with the portions being somewhat small. However, the freshly fried ebi tempura was crispy and delicious. My brother’s Negi Mayo Chicken Rice Bowl was also tasty. The rice bowls are discounted by JPY 110 when ordered as a set, which is a great deal. This place is really focused on fried foods, having trained at Tenya. Next time, I think I’ll order a set too (^_^) My parents enjoyed it and seemed to prefer Udonya Ichi over Fujii. I look forward to visiting again.
