くまたちとケーキと隕石 : Okashi Ya Taketake

I visited Okashi Ya Taketake again, as I couldn't miss it during my trip to the old Akasaki town. My main goal was to try the Meteor Cream Puff, but I also decided to buy some of the other cakes, which have a rich flavor as well. The cream puffs and cakes were as large and flavorful as I remembered, leaving me very satisfied. If I lived nearby, I would definitely stop by more often.

I returned to Okashi Ya Taketake in search of the elusive Meteor Cream Puff after missing it during my last late visit. This time, I arrived earlier and finally got to try it. I also couldn’t resist buying the cute bear-shaped financier I saw at the counter. The much-anticipated Meteor Cream Puff is definitely jet black. However, once I took a bite, the color didn't matter at all, and I savored the generous white cream filling. The cream was light in flavor, allowing me to enjoy every bite without worrying about its size. The financier had a rich taste, and each of the three varieties had a distinct flavor, making for a delightful experience. I really enjoyed these fun pastries and think they would make excellent souvenirs.

While visiting Kotoura, I recalled a patisserie in the former Akasaki Town that serves a unique black cream puff. So, I decided to drop by. The shop is a small establishment next to a private workspace. I arrived around 4 PM, but unfortunately, the much-coveted "Meteor Cream Puff" was sold out for the day. However, since I made the trip to Akasaki, I decided to buy some cakes instead. The prices were mostly in the high 400 yen range, which I thought was quite ambitious, yet I ended up purchasing three. When I got home and opened the boxes, I was pleasantly surprised by their considerable size. Upon tasting them, I found the richness of the flavors delightful and unpretentious. At that point, I reconsidered my thoughts on the pricing. The cakes are quite good too. Next time, I plan to buy the Meteor Cream Puff as well.
