We visited a bar called AFRO NEST near the prefectural office, which was still open in the early morning and offered alcoholic drinks. Luckily, our seats were distanced from others, but it was quite loud due to a group nearby and the music playing. There was also a lot of cigarette smoke (it had been a while since I had been in a smoking establishment), but I suppose that was to be expected. I started with an Orion beer for JPY 500. This place was unique in that the appetizer was either tequila or chicken with sesame sauce. Of course, I went for the tequila! The appetizer charge was JPY 300. It had been a long time since I had tequila. There was a call bell on the table, and when I rang it, tequila would automatically be served—a fun (or perhaps terrifying?) little gimmick. I ordered the jerk chicken, which is a specialty here, and they set it on fire at the table. The taste was quite delicious, and it was served on a bed of bean sprouts. We got carried away sharing stories about our travels since our last meeting, and before we knew it, it was past 1 AM. Surprisingly, the bill was JPY 3,980 for three people, even though we had all consumed more than two drinks each. The math didn't add up (it was too cheap), but I wasn't complaining.
