AMC is conjuring up more of Anne Rice‘s Mayfair Witches, renewing the Immortal Universe drama for Season 3, TVLine has learned. Additionally, Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad) is joining Esta Spalding as co-showrunner.
“I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches,” Spalding says in a statement. “A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet.”
Mayfair Witches‘ second season starred Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Jack Huston as Lasher, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, Ben Feldman as Sam “Lark” Larkin and Alyssa Jirrels as Moira Mayfair.
In the Season 2 finale, Julien (in Cortland’s body) and his fellow Scottish Mayfairs proceeded with their plan to kill Lasher, drink his blood and inherit the full extent of his power — only for Julien to betray his co-conspirators and keep all the power for himself.
Rowan also drank from Julien’s cup, but only in the hopes of gaining enough power to bring Lasher back, which turned out to be a futile effort. Following Rowan’s relatively amicable split from Lark, the finale ended with her and Moira returning to their family home in New Orleans, where Julien was waiting for them in the shadows.
As we head into Season 3, Rowan is “not going to back down from a battle” with Julien, Spalding tells TVLine. “And they really are mirrors a little bit. She’s not corrupted like Julien, and she hasn’t done the terrible things he’s done, but she does have the same kind of desire for power that he has.”
Mayfair Witches is part of Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe on AMC, which also includes Interview With the Vampire and The Talamasca, the latter of which has not yet premiered.
This is great news. Love the series.
I won’t be watching. It isn’t interesting. I like witch show Salem. It is interesting. I think the secret circle was not bad.
Gone too soon, The Secret Circle.
I agree. It wasn’t given time to grow. At least, the setting for this upcoming season of “Mayfair Witches” sound intriguing & that’s why I’ll be watching.
This could be a semi-reboot, since they are done with the Lasher story. The new setting & new characters sound intriguing. Looking forward to seeing what they do.
It was a goodrun, but they should let the show go. Witches of eastwick , Salem were better shows than this. Those shows are even old and still rewatchable.
Most shows don’t find their footing until their third season. This third season could be awesome if done right. And this sounds like somewhat of a reset for the show since there will be a new setting & new characters introduced. And since the setting for this season will be in Salem. And after hearing that the showrunner behind “Breaking Bad” will be co-running it as well, this might turn into something very special. Can’t wait to see what they come up with.
And Anne Rice continues to turn in her grave. Except for the title and name of some characters, this spectacularly boring show has nothing to do with her wonderful book/s. Do everyone a favor and just ditch this awful show.
Cant wait! I’m excited for this amazing universe to keep expanding!
Esta Spalding is terrible at the MF lore. Let’s call this what it is. AMC is rebooting this with a new showrunner and keeping her tethered in.
Rebooting this show might be what helps it thrive in the end. And I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
There is also the crossover with Louis & Lestat as well. That could be an interesting storyline to explore.
