As the Butte County Camp Fire—the most deadly and destructive fire on record in California—continues into its fifth day with no end in sight, tens of thousands of Northern California residents remain under evacuation orders.
Many residents have fled the region entirely or have taken shelter with family, friends, or even strangers outside of the prescribed evacuation zones, but thousands more are relying on the hospitality of designated Red Cross evacuation shelters.
Those attempting to locate loved ones, identify a shelter near them if they believe evacuation orders for their area may be imminent, or receive updates on which shelters are now open and accepting evacuees—and which ones are full—may consult the up to date map below.
