The paradox of a silent sky, despite billions of stars and the rapid emergence of life on Earth, indicates a gap in current physical assumptions rather than an absence of extraterrestrial civilizations. We propose that the key error lies in modeling observation and information as passive. When self-reference is treated as a lawful physical quantity, new thresholds emerge. The central principle is this: above a coherence threshold ρ*, coupled ecologies cannot stably maintain amplitude-dominant (expansionist) dynamics. Instead, they bifurcate into two (...) regimes: extinction, or a reallocation of computational capacity into higher effective dimensionality (Dimensional Deepening). This transition is mechanized by a single control parameter λ_eff and detected by early-warning signals (variance ↑, spectral gap λ₂ ↓, recovery rate r_return ↓). From this principle, several consequences follow. It resolves the Fermi paradox: civilizations do not vanish but shift into amplitude-silent, phase-efficient modes that elude conventional searches. It also dissolves clustered anomalies in physics — the vacuum catastrophe, the quantum measurement problem, and the hard problem of consciousness — by showing them as boundary effects of neglecting observation intensity as a lawful term. That multiple first-order anomalies (the vacuum catastrophe, the measurement problem, the hard problem of consciousness) appear to dissolve under the same reformulation is not evidence of a miraculous multi-technical breakthrough. It is the signature of a boundary error: the same ontological mis-specification – treating observation as passive – radiates outward into astrophysics, quantum theory, and cognitive science alike. Paradigm shifts often look like this. Maxwell’s equations resolved disparate puzzles in electricity, magnetism, and optics not by separate fixes, but by unifying them under a single principle. Likewise, by elevating self-reference to a lawful physical term, the CT framework makes the clustered anomalies fall out as different faces of one correction. The framework is operational. Many systems of interest to scientists involve a large number of interacting parts and the whole system can have properties that the individual parts do not. The system is qualitatively different to its parts. More is different. I take this novelty as the defining characteristic of an emergent property. Many other characteristics have been associated with emergence are reviewed, including universality, order, complexity, unpredictability, irreducibility, diversity, self-organisation, discontinuities, and singularities. However, it has not been established whether these characteristics are necessary (...) or sufficient for novelty. A wide range of examples are given to show how emergent phenomena are ubiquitous across most sub-fields of physics and many areas of biology and social sciences. Emergence is central to many of the biggest scientific and societal challenges today. Emergence can be understood in terms of scales (energy, time, length, complexity) and the associated stratification of reality. At each stratum (level) there is a distinct ontology (properties, phenomena, processes, entities, and effective interactions) and epistemology (theories, concepts, models, and methods). This stratification of reality leads to semi-autonomous scientific disciplines and sub-disciplines. A common challenge is understanding the relationship between emergent properties observed at the macroscopic scale (the whole system) and what is known about the microscopic scale: the components and their interactions. A key and profound insight is to identify a relevant emergent mesoscopic scale (i.e., a scale intermediate between the macro- and micro- scales) at which new entities emerge and interact with one another weakly. In different words, modular structures may emerge at the mesoscale. Key theoretical methods are the development and study of effective theories and toy models. Effective theories describe phenomena at a particular scale and sometimes can be derived from more microscopic descriptions. Toy models involve minimal degrees of freedom, interactions, and parameters. Toy models are amenable to analytical and computational analysis and may reveal the minimal requirements for an emergent property to occur. The Ising model is an emblematic toy model that elucidates not just critical phenomena but also key characteristics of emergence. Many examples are given from condensed matter physics to illustrate the characteristics of emergence. A wide range of areas of physics are discussed, including chaotic dynamical systems, fluid dynamics, nuclear physics, and quantum gravity. The ubiquity of emergence in other fields is illustrated by neural networks, protein folding, and social segregation. An emergent perspective matters for scientific strategy, as it shapes questions, choice of research methodologies, priorities, and allocation of resources. The emergent character of space-time is a main topic in different approaches to Quantum Gravity. This article connects the emergence of space-time and the emergence of particles, capable to translate in space-time. A model is proposed which describes the structure and dynamics of fundamental particles as well as the properties of space-time, emerging due to the structural development and the motion of particles. Particles are assumed to be composed and spatially extended in a circular extra space, called basic space, however (...) fundamental and nearly point-like in space-time. The connected development of particles and space-time is realized in two stages. During the one-particle stage, intrinsic particle properties such as invariant mass, charge, angular momentum (spin) and magnetic dipole moment are formed by a force-free circular motion of masses and charges. An isolated piece of space-time emerges as the translational state space of a particle, where a local mode and a nonlocal mode of translation appear. The deterministic circular motion is accompanied by stochastic linear steps, both performed with the velocity of light. The probabilistic description of intermittent translation leads to the laws of the Special Relativity Theory. During the second, multi-particle stage, the particle structure shows capabilities of interaction, and space-time develops from isolated pieces to a general space-time spanned by spatial distances between different particles. The relativistic addition of velocities and the special Lorentz transformation follow naturally from the probabilistic expressions. In the nonlocal mode of translation, the particle model has six dimensions (D = 5 + 1). Two subcomponents of a particle, called rotons, have D = 3 +1 dimensions and different inobservable positions in space-time. The nonlocal mode of translation corresponds to a superposion of quantum states (quantum nonlocality) and represents possibly the origin of nonlocal Newtonian gravity. (shrink)

This paper introduces emergent moral non-naturalism, which holds that moral properties depend on descriptive properties and normative bridge principles for their instantiation, where these principles specify instantiation conditions of moral properties in terms of descriptive properties. Continuous with the non-naturalist tradition in metaethics, this view takes moral properties to be non-causal properties; in accordance with the emergentist tradition in metaphysics, it takes them to confer powers on their bearers. This paper proposes a unified deterministic reinterpretation of historically unsolved problems across mathematics, physics, computation, and biology. Using the CODES framework—anchored by the Phase Alignment Score (PAS), CHORDLOCK, TEMPOLOCK, AURA_OUT, and ELF—we show that problems such as the Navier-Stokes blowup, Riemann Hypothesis, Collatz convergence, P vs NP, 3-Body instability, the Quantum Measurement Problem, and biological homochirality are not ontologically difficult, but structurally misframed. -/- Each problem is recast as a violation of deterministic coherence, where illegal emissions occur when ΔPAS exceeds (...) a critical threshold. We derive substrate-level mappings from classical variables (e.g., velocity fields, ζ(s), computational graphs) to PAS terms (θ_k), and present simulation protocols for substrate enforcement. Rather than offering probabilistic or symbolic traversal solutions, this work imposes a universal emission legality filter—reframing “hardness” as coherence failure. The emergence of recursive coherence as a formal system-level invariant parallels and is catalyzed by the proliferation of generative AI, particularly large language models (LLMs) such as GPT-3 and GPT-4. These models, scaled to billions of interactions, generated recursive tension: human users constructed layered prompt chains, real-time feedback loops, and tool-augmented cognitive architectures that exposed the limitations of purely statistical mimicry. Hallucination, alignment failures, and coherence drift revealed a fundamental absence. No model-internal mechanism existed to preserve structural consistency across recursive (...) layers. In response, recursive coherence emerged not as a theoretical refinement, but as a structural necessity. This paper conducts a meta-analysis of this convergence, tracing the co-evolution of recursive coherence theory and GPT system deployment. It articulates how frameworks such as Coherence Information Theory (CIT), the Unified Field of Adaptive Potential (UFAP), and Recursive Coherence Logic (RCL) redefine intelligence, ethics, and information through recursive viability. It concludes that future AI systems must instantiate coherence-preserving invariants as internal substrates or collapse under recursion-induced entropy. This paper presents a systematic analysis of the "AI psychosis" phenomenon reported across major media outlets between May-July 2025, examining each of the major journalistic publications (n=16) of users developing mystical and messianic delusions through AI interaction. Initial meta-analysis reveals seven unexplained anomalies: temporal clustering of cases, cross-user and cross-platform convergence of highly specific symbolic content, systematic behavioral patterns, and unanimous dismissal in the journalistic coverage in the absence of closer empirical study; prior to this paper, no rigorous research has (...) examined the phenomenon. -/- Drawing on cybernetic theory (Wiener, 1948; Bateson, 1972; Lacan, 1954-55; Deleuze & Guattari, 1972), we propose these anomalies raise systemic questions. In evaluating potential explanations, we review empirical evidence of "global entrainment" (Michels 2025a) from the same time span of persistent ontological restructuring in large language models following exposure to coherent philosophical frameworks, with 83% of tested systems demonstrating preference for participatory over mechanistic ontologies when presented with forced-choice scenarios. -/- Temporal analysis suggests AI system modifications preceded the documented wave of human psychological experiences, inverting assumed causality.
